Hoy no tengo mucho tiempo para escribir, y además a este señor lo re-presenté ayer (ya lo había presentado hace tiempo), así que sin mucho más preámbulos vamos al algunos comentarios y al disco. Siguiendo su estilo personal y propio pero ahora junto con un español llamado Max Corbacho, "Bioma" es un proyecto basado en grabaciones de campo efectuadas por Bruno y Max en un paraje de la provincia de Tarragona, España, durante la primavera de 2010. Los elementos electrónicos fueron creados un año después, ya en los estudios de grabación de cada artista y ensamblados para la mezcla final. El resultado de ésta unión es un particular y único "BIOMA", un verdadero sistema que vive y respira.
BIOMA [In english, Biome]: A large community of plants and animals that occupies a distinct region. Terrestrial biomes, typically defined by their climate and dominant vegetation, include grassland, tundra, desert, tropical rainforest, and deciduous and coniferous forests. There are two basic aquatic biomes, freshwater and marine, which are sometimes further broken down into categories such as lakes and rivers or pelagic, benthic, and intertidal zones.

The electronics were created a year later in the recording studio of each artist and assembled to the final mix. The result of this union is a particular and unique BIOME, a real living, breathing system.
Un disco de un único tema, justamaente llamado "Bioma" y que funciona como una especie de gran bioma musical, basado en las texturas electrónicas.
Bioma es el título del nuevo trabajo colaborativo de Bruno Sanfilippo y Max Corbacho, el primero desde que en 2003 grabaran juntos el célebre Indalo. A diferencia de aquel, en este álbum han optado por dejar a un lado las melodías, los ritmos y las atmósferas densas para conformar un elaborado collage de sonidos sintéticos en torno a una serie de grabaciones de campo. El resultado es un trabajo profundamente personal y de aire minimalista ubicado en el mismísimo límite de la musicalidad, lugar en el que sólo un artista de sobrada experiencia y talento podría desenvolverse con la soltura de la que ellos hacen gala aquí.Ran Kirlian
Según nos cuentan sus autores "el término BIOMA (En Inglés, biome), hace referencia a una gran comunidad de plantas y animales que ocupa una región distinta. Los biomas terrestres, suelen definirse por su clima y vegetación dominante, pueden comprender praderas, tundra, desierto, selva tropical y bosques caducifolios y de coníferas. Existen dos biomas acuáticos básicos, de agua dulce y marina, que a veces se subdivide en categorías tales como lagos y ríos o en zonas pelágicas, bentónicas y las mareas."
Pese a que Bioma podría percibirse cercano a la obra de artistas como Alio Die por la enorme presencia de sonidos naturales, conceptualmente este disco se encuentra en un plano muy distinto. Al escucharlo se percibe claramente que las tornas se han cambiado y los sonidos naturales, que habitualmente sirven de apoyo en este tipo de géneros, son aquí los auténticos protagonistas, mientras que la labor de Max y Bruno se centra en complementar y enriquecer la atmósfera original con todo tipo de detalles, creando un delicioso mundo sonoro que resulta mágico y altamente inmersivo. Por momentos resulta difícil imaginar que simplemente capturaran sonidos ambientales; más bien parece que estos dos insaciables exploradores instalaron en el bosque sus instrumentos y su talento para acompañar por un rato a la naturaleza en su eterna sinfonía.

Si les gustó lo anterior que traje del señor Sanfilippo, también les va a gustar esto, seguramente. Ahora, si no les gustó, les puedo llegar a recomendar muchas otras cosas en este blog, pero no intenten con esto porque el estilo no es para ustedes.
The two protagonists of Spanish ad21music label, Bruno Sanfilippo & Max Corbacho, have teamed up for their second collaborative effort entitled "BIOMA", released at the end of November 2011. The first one, "Indalo", was released back in 2003. "BIOMA" is quite different when comparing to "Indalo" or to any other of their previous solo works or Bruno's collaborations with Mathias Grassow. It remains in ambient genre, but with strong focus on field recordings collected in the landscapes of province Tarragona, Spain, during the spring of 2010. Location recordings of bird calls, insects, frogs and other water dwelling inhabitants, water sounds... are the base for this long form, clocking to 59 minutes, sonic palette merging carefully these environmental sounds with electronics. Some parts are very authentic, evoking nocturnal walk along the forest's pond and enjoying all the live performances of ecosystem's residents while some other sections move to more grasslanded areas spiced by assorted bells or cowbells, yet the texture remaining very tranquil. At times more high-tech escapades invade the environmentals too, but always keeping its character naturally colored, harmonious and living. Deeper, nightly drones come to the fore too, bringing this composition into more abstract level, but the organics won't lose this show and return back, even if few more experimentally breathing or echoed effects keep on enriching the texture. But also few more meditative, hypnotic moments can be explored when the sounds evoking singing bowls enter this walk. Last 12 minutes slowly return into natural beauty and tranquility to bring the album to the closing point where it all began. Both artists have managed refinely to melt and sculpt their own sonics with on-site phonographies to hold listener's attention through the entire piece. Yes, "BIOMA" is for sure different, but beautifully immersing and mesmerizing!!! Our two budgies love it too...:-) Hand-numbered elegant digipak is another bonus. Nice work, amigos!!!Richard Gürtler

From the midst of a conference of birds taking place high among the tree tops falls a single, unremarkable feather in the form of a lone musical note.
The note is nothing compared to the intriguing mosaic of the birdsong, but as it catches an updraft it begins to shine.
Bruno Sanfilippo has been recording for over twenty years and has previously collaborated with artists including Alio Die and Mathias Grassow, with whom his own ambient work favourably compares. Max Corbacho is a kindred spirit from Barcelona with his own impressive, atmospheric discography.
Together they amassed field recordings in the forests of Tarragona in eastern Spain, later adding their own electronic touches to create a unique “biome,” or ecosystem.
By penciling in detail with such tact, the natural and the synthetic coalesce. A burbling brook runs through it, the avian choir never quits, and a herd of goats is shepherded past once,
twice, again. With the bell, bowl and chime buttons on their various Korg synthesizers, the duo replant the familiar Spanish countryside with even richer botany, humidifying the air and creating a colourful imaginarium under the leafy canopy. Delicate bird song rises naturally out of silence, avian calls and cries surrounding the listener as if present in a deep woodland. Synthetic embellishments dance among the chirps and twitters almost unnoticed at times; then in tandem - twinkling synthetics in sync with nature; then dense drone textures, the organic material apparently suspended in strange, crawling artificial atmosphere. This shifting balance continues throughout the composition: the susurrating sounds of insects; the rough bleats of sheep; clanking cow bells; distant church bells and an abundance of bird calls - all set against constantly evolving ambient electronica - deftly interwoven into a single long form whole. In places the instrumentation gives way completely to the environmental material, then about halfway a major shift occurs: stronger, more dissonant tones that contrast the serenity of nature; abstract synth forms establish a more disquieting mood as if the woods are seen through a distorting lens - warping and colouring everything in view.
ARTWORK: Bioma is a neat digipack release of two panels encircled by an elegant paper slip bearing the album title. The front cover features a near monochrome photograph of a tree arcing in from the right, a bright spot of sun piercing the intricate lacework of foliage just off centre. A pale almost-white flat sky contrasts the textured greys of bark and leaf. On the rear the same flat sky takes up the bulk of the space, a loose canopy of twigs and leaves forming a partial frame. The single track title is here along with website info and a handwritten limited edition number. Inside, the monochrome approach is maintained: heavier grey; woodland imagery; discussion of the project in white font. Three small images and one large (behind the disc) show well placed microphones set to gather field recordings.
OVERALL: Bruno Sanfilippo and Max Corbacho come together again in collaboration over Bioma, their last joint release was back in 2003 when they released Indalo. The album is delivered via the duo's own AD21 label. Promotional material explains "field recordings made in different places in the province of Tarragona, Spain, during spring 2010" a year later the two "composers crafted the electronic soundscapes and effects separately from each other to enrich this natural kaleidoscope of sounds." Biome is a single long form track that lasts fifty nine minutes and naturally loops back on itself if allowed to. The album is a limited edition release of only 200 copies and can, of course, be explored visually and aurally via the ad21

One year later, the composers crafted the electronic soundscapes and effects seperately from each other to enrich this natural kaleidoscope of sounds.
It all ended up in this continuous 59-minute "real living, mesmerizing breathing system". This very calming and slowly evolving environmental recording immerses and surrounds the listener with sustained bell sounds, infinite loops and an almost uninterrupted string of singing birds.
The second half of the album takes on a bit more experimental/abstract shape, although it turns up harmonic again from the 45-minute mark.
Occasionally, its approach reminded me of Michael Stearns "Morning Jewel" and some Brian Eno stuff, while the duo takes its own turns and twists towards the environmental
sonic ambience to make this a unique Biome, suitable for infinite playback. "Bioma" is released as a limited factory-pressed cd of 200 hand-numbered copies.
