Sebastian Persini is a drummer / solo artist who was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In 2010 he released his first album entitled "Lost City", selling hundreds of copies worldwide. Besides his solo career Sebastian is a busy recording drummer, he's featured in albums / recordings along with musicians Fabrizio Leo (Laura Pausini), Stuart Hamm (Joe Satriani), Alex Argento, Clare Means, Rick Graham, Tom Quayle to name a few. Sebastian is also part of Cirque Du Soleil's staff, as a touring member, for live performances around the world. In the current year he'll be working on his upcoming second album, along with his first DVD.
It's rare to find a musician like Sebastian Persini. Here's a guy who can compose terrific songs, arrange all of them, produce the release, and even go on to play just about every instrument on the album aside from a few solos. Although there are quite a few musicians who attempt to succeed at such an ambitious and work-filled project, Sebastian Persini pulls it of with ease on Lost City, his debut album. The thing that amazes me the most is the fact that this is only Sebastian's first outing in the music industry - who knows where such a talented guy will be in the future! If you like (mostly) instrumental prog metal, this hidden gem should be one of your first acquisitions this year.Jeff
The music on Lost City is instrumental (except for one lyrical track) progressive metal. Sebastian Persini is pretty unique, though. Expect to hear traditional prog metal sounds, jazz influences, atmospheric touches, and a few softer prog rock sections. The meaty compositions played in an exceptionally professional manner never disappoint. Of the 7 tracks here, it's really difficult for me to pick a favorite, although I will say that every track is unique and highly enjoyable in its own way. I especially like the way Red Dusk sets the mood for the rest of the album, and the female vocals in No Way Out add some good variation into the album. It's incredibly hard to not be intrigued during the entire listening experience of this album - every song is fast-moving, unique, accessible, yet deep enough to keep you coming back for more. What could be better from a prog metal release?
Sebastian Persini is, of course, a very talented musician. Although he is primarily a drummer, he also plays bass, guitars, and keyboards throughout most of the album. And he does a pretty darn good job too. The guest musicians throughout the album are also really great, and provide a nice solo whenever necessary.
The production is pretty good for a self-produced effort. There's definitely a lot of atmosphere in the sound, but there is enough power here to do the metal sections justice.
Conclusion: Lost City is a fantastic debut by Sebastian Persini, and I find it to be highly recommendable to fans of instrumental prog metal. I can't wait to hear where Sebastian takes his talent in the future, but I've got a feeling it'll be something great. 4 stars are well deserved on this one - fantastic job, Sebastian! Keep the great music comin'!
Sebastian Persini is a young drumer from Argentina, a talented musician with musical school behind. He manage to release his first album in 2010 named Lost city, a realy powerful and brilliant performed progressive metal release. The album is entirely instrumental minus one sonmg featuring a warm female singer Solange Massa, and I think the most unintrsting track from the album. Persinis' s performance is top notch, he composed all the parts from here and aswell handles many instruments involved here, even a bunch of guest appers like the great keybordist Alex Argento or David Locke on guitars. The album sounds fresh, pregressive metal meets some fusion arrahgements , the rsult is pretty high class album, nothing is left aside in this stile, he mage to cover all corners of this genre, from fast solos and brilliant keybords parts to a more sloww with magic parts, all is here. I like a lot this kind of prog metal, complex, full of great performance, intelligents arrangements, blistering moments, It doesn't sount at all like a drumer solo album, realy. All instrumenta has a major role here, not one is in front particulary and the job is well done. Pieces like Bulbo, Light Future or the longest and the most perfect from here the closer 13.73 Billion Years are pure sheer greatness. Persini realy done it with his first offer, a spectacular album where technique and musicality goes hand in hand. 4 stars easy, pleasent surprise from start to finish.b_olariu
From Argentina comes a very special and unexpected high quality album from a very talented musician called SEBASTIAN PERSINI!This album is a true revelation because it's offering a great prog metal instrumental 99 % music in the vein of PLANET X! Great technical skills and and a fantastic production!Very spectacular drumming provided by Mr Persini,a magician behind the kit,but the man is busy with other instruments too on this debut album!Amazing keyboard work played by no one other then ALEX ARGENTO-the keys wizzard from Italy, which is in charge with the production of the album too!The great diversity of the album is another strong point of this album, all the tracks are catchy and intense, without any weak composition! All the instruments have a crystal clear sound and the balence between the songs is impressive,as I'ver said, the production is beautiful ideed! The sound is so modern and actual, this is modern prog with all the ingredients to seduce even the most pretentious prog metal lover! The technical aspect is impressive.sometimes scarry, but never too demonstrative or really focused on this aspect of the music! The composition is the main target on this album and the whole ensemble is trully sensational!4.5 STARS for a wonderful musical discovery from a very talented musician with a huge potential!I am sure the future will offer for SEBASTIAN PERSINI only good surprises!Ovidiu Dumitrescu
